Case Study Creating a Best in Class Service Delivery Company

It never ceases to amaze me how apparently highly evolved businesses with very impressive portfolios continually struggle to come to terms with the concept of smart effective business thinking. Often when I speak to clients in this mind set, I frequently discover that for whatever reason they’re unable to either conceptualise and/or tap into the intelligence that exists within their business. They are therefore always apparently on the back foot simply because they’re unable to either prescriptively consolidate and/or grow with clarity. It’s therefore no wonder that they continually find themselves floundering and/or trapped in a Groundhog Day scenario, where they repeatedly make the same mistakes time and time again. Because they either grow or downsize too quickly around any given economic trend whilst continually compromising their overall sustainability and business efficiencies through a lack of overall corporate clarity. A situation which inevitably filters through their entire business generating a lack of individual transparency and hence direct accountancy.
However in the pursuit of a best in class business culture we all must play a vital role in creating the change that we want or need to see. For it is always the people aligned to any given business who are the catalyst’s that bring about effective change. Simply because business rhetoric, methodologies and/or integrated process systems which originate from a place of collective naivety, unfortunately always fail to deliver best in class results simply because they are often conceived via impoverished sustainability intellect. Therefore it’s very clear to me that the only businesses that will get through the current economic turmoil that we all currently face will be those businesses who can step up to the mark and transform themselves into Business Tigers. Therein creating and proactively engendering a level of business intellect and intelligence within their core business that enables them by default to create decentralised Tiger Businesses. In essence marketing components of their core businesses overall service delivery capability via effective plug and play and/or soft tailored options for individual clients which are robust enough to accommodate fluctuations in their client’s expectations whilst maintaining a high level of service delivery.
But what you may ask is a Business Tiger and/or Tiger Businesses? And are they some form of aggressive go getting business dynamic driven solely from points of internal intolerance. Well my answer to both of those two very simple questions is no and absolutely not. You see; becoming a Business Tiger and/or a Tiger Business no matter what business you’re in, is simply a process of joined up thinking that actually identifies, qualifies, mentors up, buys in and creates a level of business intelligence within your business that allows you to be as smart and as efficient as its reasonably practicable to be. In simple terms; Business Tigers are businesses with high business intelligence derived from nothing more complicated than understanding the overall mechanics required of all successful businesses in pursuit of steady business state. It could therefore be simplistically perceived as any smart business thought process, control process, service delivery capability, operational sustainability, sustainable liquidity and client or customer facing engagement expertise. Equally it could be the level of professional accreditation or sustainable success that a business has acquired over any given business cycle, including the professional skills depths and/or voids that both its internal and supply chain staff are privy to. Therefore in terms of prescriptively defining business intelligence its obvious that it’s a derivative of so many things, the only real difference one may argue in terms of what constitutes smart, effective business intelligence is; the difference between added value and none added value business intelligence to any given business support undertaking.
