To be successful in business today there is a need to create a smarter level of intellect within a business that generates clarity, authority and a mandate for continuous improvement and change. Therein there must be an inherent desire to create a sustainable business case based around smarter business thinking and approaches. Where people feel both empowered and supported to be as smart, efficient and as effective as reasonably practicable in any given steady business state and/or commercial service delivery compliance scenario. Business models fit for 2010 and thereafter must be based around smart people using smart process to ensure that; procurement, asset stewardship, supply chain loops and all associated commercial, business compliance, stakeholder engagement, safety and quality driven undertakings are as smart as they can reasonably be. Such models therefore by default must be robust enough, intelligent enough and flexible enough to support and/or facilitate smart service delivery at all times irrespective of economic or operational loads that are being either directly or indirectly imposed upon the business.
Best as Reasonably Practicable
Creating a sustainable business case these days requires a culture where smarter business functionality and thinking are embodied in all that any businesses people do and/or undertake on behalf of the business. Where demarcation and silo mentalities are challenged and greater personal and overall accountability become the inevitable out puts of a new way of joined up thinking. A smart business culture based around customer experience and an ethos of root cause analysis designed specifically to ensure that an integrated programme of service delivery excellence is continuously achieved via up skilling of people, processes and systems as and where needed.
Accountability and Risk Mitigation
Creating a business capable of meeting the needs of 2010 requires a big step change in cultural perceptions. A process by default which must be designed to effectively move a businesses people out of their comfort zones with ease, where commercial compliance and risk mitigation remain paramount during every steady business state day. In essence creating a smart business culture where proactive, yet grounded smart business thinking is seen as the norm and where none compliance in what ever form it may have presented in the past is no longer tolerated in any way shape of form. In moving business support mind sets towards this degree of operational service delivery and clarity, there is absolutely no reason why any business with that core capability would not be seen as the natural choice of potential clients etc.
People
Businesses that wish to compete in 2010 must implicitly understand where their people fit into their business and where they can be moved freely within their business in pursuit of steady business state excellence. Such that skills can be further developed within a smart business environment that stimulates, mentors and rewards those prepared to participate in a journey which at its core is the pursuit of achieving a culture of; as best as reasonably practicable at any given time. Therein creating a highly sustainable business model that is a derivative of both smarter individual and collective mind sets, where everyone either directly or indirectly engaged in supporting the business during steady business or transition business state, play's their part in delivering a portfolio of first class; business services and/or business solutions.
